We have known for some time that Google are very interested in automative driving. In fact they have been in development of this technology for some time, although perviously this technology had been installed on everyday cars which enabled automative driving. This car however is the first time Google have built there own vehicle and its fully autonomous.

Designed to resemble a city car, the car has two seats and is made from a soft foam-like material. As the car is fully autonomous there is no steering wheel or pedals, just a simple stop and go button..according to Google you don’t need controls you simply tell the car where you want to go and voila! With a a top speed of 25mph there is no fear of speeding! The car uses a series of cameras, sensors  and software, the combination of which enable the car to drive without the need of controls or a human driver.

Even though you are unlikely to see the Google driverless car on the street anytime soon the company remains determined to be the first to bring this technology to the world. “Fully autonomous driving has always been the goal of our project, because we think this could improve road safety and help lots of people who can’t drive. We’re now developing prototypes of vehicles that have been designed from the ground up to drive themselves—just push a button and they’ll take you where you want to go! We’ll use these vehicles to test our software and learn what it will really take to bring this technology into the world.” Google states that when testing begins they will use 100 vehicles each of which will have extra controls allowing test drivers to take over should there be any issues.
